Car Key Programming in Dripping Springs
Modern car keys usually need electronic programming, not just a physical cut, before they will work. Key Provision programs vehicle keys onsite around Dripping Springs so your key is recognized and ready to start the car.
Why car keys need programming
Most vehicles built in the last couple of decades use electronic security that pairs each key to the car. Programming is the step that establishes that link.
Without it, a key may fit the ignition or unlock the doors but still fail to start the engine.
Key types that may require programming
Transponder keys, remote-head keys, key fobs, and push-button start smart keys all typically require programming.
The exact process depends on the key type and the vehicle, which is why we confirm the details first.
Programming for spare keys and replacements
Whether you are adding a spare or replacing a lost key, programming is what makes the new key functional.
If you still have a working key, the process is usually quicker. If every key is gone, the vehicle needs to accept a new key from scratch.
Why cutting a key is not always enough
A freshly cut key might turn in the lock, but modern security means it often will not start the vehicle until it is programmed.
We handle both cutting and programming so you end up with a key that actually works, not just one that fits.
Vehicle compatibility
Programming capability varies by make, model, and year. We work with most domestic and Asian brands and confirm compatibility before every appointment.
Send us your vehicle details and we will let you know what is possible.
